Since 1983 the Prichard Committee has been committed to the belief that “education is the path to a larger life for all Kentuckians,” to quote Edward F. Prichard, Jr., one of our founding members and the Committee’s first chair. To accomplish that lofty aim, the Prichard Committee works to study priority issues, inform the public, and policy makers about best practices and mobilize citizens, business leaders, families, students and other stakeholders in a shared mission to move Kentucky the top tier of all states for educational excellence for all children, from their earliest years through postsecondary education.
Thanks to the efforts of the Committee and dedicated citizens who support the work, Kentucky has moved from the bottom of the national rankings in education to the middle and above. Our ambitious goal is to move to the top tier of states within this generation.
While we are always grateful for unrestricted gifts that can be used to support the areas of most urgent need, we are also deeply grateful for gifts that donors may wish to direct to specific facets of our work.
